The Postgraduate Diploma in Biohealth Business Development is the last of a series of specialization degrees aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills needed to promote and consolidate the creation of companies in the bio-health sector. The students who complete all the planned education will be able to obtain the Master’s degree in BioHealth Entrepreneurship and Innovation (pending approval).

This education is part of the International Joint Postgraduate Program “Advanced Skills for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the BIO Health Sector”, developed within the European Project BIOHEALTH Gear Box Alliance (BIO-ALL), funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus +, KA2 (code 600936-EPP-1-2018-1-PT-EPPKA2-KA).  This educational program will be implemented jointly in Portugal (Universidade da Beira Interior), Italy (Universitá Politecnica delle Marche) and Spain (Universidad de Granada).

The Postgraduate Diploma in Biohealth Business Development (20 ECTS) of the University of Granada consists of the last four modules of this international postgraduate program, which includes in blended learning mode, theoretical/practical online classes, virtual or face-to-face seminars at BREAKER, three weeks of international mobility with visits to companies in the BioHealth sector and complementary project-based activities (assistance to hackathons, round tables, entrepreneurship events). These modules are:

  • Ethics and regulation in biohealth (6ECTS)
  • Corporate Sustainability (4ECTS)
  • International business (4ECTS)
  • Final Project (6ECTS)

Adapted to the new reality of the post-COVID19 stage, this Diploma consists of 80 hours of online classes that will be taught simultaneously in English to students from Portugal, Italy and Spain. Also, 40 hours of tutoring and 52 hours dedicated to extraordinary training sessions (seminars, entrepreneurship events and company visits) have been planned. The rest of the hours are part of the student’s autonomous work until completing 20 ECTS

In the first quarter of the academic year 2020/21, the University of Granada offers the Postgraduate Diploma in BioHealth Business Creation, while in the second quarter the Postgraduate Diploma in BioHealth Business Management is offered, completing the International Joint Postgraduate Program..

The BioALL project finances 90% of the registration fee of the students who obtain the Certificate of Academic Achievement.

Competences and skills acquired

The student will know or understand:

  • locating, managing and synthesizing information contained in the regulations and standards of the bio-health sector.
  • carrying out interdisciplinary work among bio-health professionals, with the aim of integrating both expertises as a basis for the development of the final project.
  • integrating knowledge and face the complexity of making judgments based on information that, being incomplete or limited, includes reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments.
  • the instruments available to address sustainability in Bio-health companies.
  • analyzing the impacts of environmental sustainability on the performance of corporate organizations and start-up companies.
  • relating corporate social responsibility to sustainability and learn how these two different terms now merge into a common roadmap.
  • acquiring knowledge in the area of business internationalization, as well as its management and implications for the development of new companies.
  • applying the knowledge acquired in the area of internationalization.
  • how to apply the acquired knowledge and solve problems in new or little known environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their area of study.
  • carrying out interdisciplinary work among Bio-Health professionals, with the aim of integrating both expertises as a basis for the development of the final project.
  • integrating knowledge and face the complexity of making judgments based on information that, being incomplete or limited, includes reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments

In addition, after obtaining the diploma, students will be able to:

  • integrate your knowledge in the entrepreneurship setting and deal with complex situations to make value judgments from information that might be incomplete.
  • know the different regulations of the product and services in Bio-Health, and their relationship with the environment and society.
  • understand the different regulations that apply to the BioHealth sector, and how they affect the development of the product/service.
  • develop and learn the skills necessary to provide an economic activity that does not degrade or irreparably destroy natural and human resources.
  • identify practices in the environmental, social, and economic sustainability fields while developing a successful idea and learning how to produce new knowledge based on the commercialization of CS guidelines.
  • recognize opportunities and threats in the development of international market activities.
  • design plans and programs to manage cultural and legal diversity in the biotechnology sector at an international level.
  • develop a complete business plan, in accordance with the latest legal frameworks.
  • formulate the strategy for the business in Bio-Health and how to go to market.
